AFOL

This summer I learned that there is an actual and widely used term for grown-up Lego enthusiasts: AFOL, an Adult Fan of Legos. Could this be you? Are you an AFOL? I sure am! I don’t recall actually having any Legos as a child; which is so very sad to even contemplate, but I’ve since made up for that. Legos are neatly displayed and stored in pretty much every nook and cranny of my home these days, on shelves, in closets, in cupboards, on counters, even under beds! It’s a little ridiculous, but with a husband and two boys who are even bigger Lego fans than I, being inundated with Legos seems completely natural. My favorite themes include the DC Comics Super Heroes, Monster Fighters, The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and of course Star Wars. I’m also a big fan of the Winter Village Series, the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set (which I just added to my wish list), Series Mini-Figures and yes, Lego Duplo (don’t judge). What I am super excited about and what inspired this post is the new Series 14 Mini-Figures that came out earlier this month: theme equals MONSTERS! How cool is that? Legos, monsters, monster-Legos, it’s truly a great combination. Just the other day my son and I were at Target, which always includes a trip down the Lego isle, and there they were – shiny new bags of Series 14 Mini-Figures. Not to toot my own horn (commence tooting), but expert-like, we blindly felt through the bags and correctly identified (and of course purchased) all 16 Mini-Figures in the series! It was a great victory indeed, but even more, it was a memorable and fun time spent with my son (standing in the isle for what seemed like forever, squeezing bags and nerding-out together) good stuff. Each figure is so cool, I can’t decide on a favorite! I’m curious, what is your favorite Monster in the Series? Also, do you have a favorite Lego set or theme? Regardless, I encourage you to pull out your Legos, if you don’t have any, pull out your friend’s Legos and build, play, create, whatever you want to call it and then immediately go check out Series 14 Mini-Figures! Everyone needs at least one monster!
